When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and a hashed password. If you connect via a third-party provider (e.g. Google) we receive only the profile data you authorise during that flow.

As you use Edkool we automatically collect learning activity — lessons viewed, assessments attempted, XP earned, and streak data — to power your progress dashboard and personalised recommendations.

2. How we use your information

  • Deliver and personalise your learning experience
  • Track progress, award XP, and unlock achievements and skills
  • Send transactional emails (e.g. password reset, level-up notifications) — you can opt out of non-essential emails at any time
  • Improve Edkool's content and recommendation algorithms
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

  • Infrastructure providers — cloud hosting and database services that process data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements.
  • Analytics tools — aggregated, anonymised usage metrics only.
  • Legal authorities — when required by law or to protect the safety of users.

4. Cookies

We use session cookies required for authentication and CSRF protection. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though core functionality may be affected.

5. Data retention

Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time by contacting us — we will delete your personal data within 30 days except where retention is required by law.

6. Your rights

7. Security

We use industry-standard security practices including HTTPS, hashed passwords, and access controls. No system is 100% secure; if you discover a vulnerability please disclose it responsibly to security@edkool.com.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or an in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect.
